Integrated Services: How R&J Combines Machining, Welding and Honing for Full-Cycle Cylinder Support

At R&J Cylinder and Machine, we provide full-cycle support for hydraulic cylinders by combining machining, welding, and honing under one roof. This integrated approach helps us deliver consistent quality, reduce lead times, and simplify the process for our customers.

Machining

We use both CNC and manual machining to produce and repair cylinder components. Our equipment handles parts up to 40,000 lbs and holds tolerances as tight as ±0.001”. Machining includes boring, turning, and milling operations for rods, tubes, and custom parts.

Welding

Our AWS-certified welders perform MIG, TIG, submerged arc, and robotic welding. We follow AWS D1.1 and D14.9 standards to ensure structural integrity and pressure retention. Welding is used for new builds, repairs, and modifications.

Honing

Honing improves the internal surface of cylinder tubes, supporting seal performance and reducing wear. We hone diameters from 1.25” to 50” and lengths up to 62 feet. This step is essential for cylinder longevity and reliability.

Why Integration Matters

By combining these services, we eliminate the need to outsource critical steps. This means:

· Faster turnaround

· Fewer logistics issues

· Better control over quality

· One point of contact for the entire job

Whether you need a new hydraulic cylinder or a full rebuild, our team manages the process from start to finish. R&J’s integrated services are designed to support industrial reliability. Contact us to learn more or request a quote.
